My favorite old lady : Miss Marple

    Miss Marple

Miss Marple is becoming my top favourite old lady in the world. She don't move as speedily as Sherlock Holmes with the brilliant partner Dr Watson but I especially love the way of her solving and revealing a crime over a cup of afternoon tea.

Who is Miss Marple? A fictional character by Agatha Christie. She is called Jane Marple usually referred to as Miss Marple. An elderly spinster ( old maid) who lives in the village of St. Mary Mead and is sort of a amateur detective. She is a very stereotype old English lady of around 60-70 years old. Dressed in tweed, cardigans and a little hat and busying knitting or reading. She is such a cute adorable old lady from the outside but sharp logical mind on the inside. She got such great understanding of human nature with all its weaknesses, strengths, quirks and foibles. In the detective story tradition, she often embarrasses the local "professional" police by solving mysteries that have them stumped.

It is such a great joy to curl up on the bed and enjoy a good tv drama of Miss Marple or the Novels. I am planning to get some Miss Marple books this Christmas. ^^~~ Can't wait to get to the bookstores. One of the horrible things living in the rural country side is you can't get the things you want easily. It is first time in my life I can say:" I have all the money but there is nothing to buy!" Really. Sometimes this can seriously get on the nerve and make life very stressful and unhappy. You just wanna get a simple thing that can be bought in any store but here???????? Oh my. You can drive through the whole town search every single store and you may not even get a glimpse of it.

Miss Marple's sweet little cottage. I am afraid the picture below did not do full justice of the wonderful house.

Through some googling and surfing I stumbled upon a Miss Marple game. Kind of fun in a way if you are bored to death and nothing to do and with a good pair of sharp eyes. I strained and tired my eyes out trying to search for the tiny things in the pictures. I guess it will be what most people called a waste of time game. :P But I like it. It is kind of fun and the pictures are beautifully detailed and the game does follows the novel closely.

4.50 from Paddington is one of my favourite stories too. Miss Lucy is brilliant!

Ooh...I am sneezing the whole night. Weather here is really chilly and cold. My bed is so cold that I got to dry to use 2 blankets and resort to wearing jackets. And guess what ? I am freezing in Malaysia which is famous for its humidity and heat.

Alice had me lost in the Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my favourtie childhood story books. I love all the classic stories books from the libraty. ^^~ They used to be a source of knowledge for the world of unknown world and great adventures to fantasy land. Like Unlike Alice who is bored with everything around her, I am too fascinated by everything and through my childish eyes I see the Wonderland. This new movie by Tim Burton : Alice in Wonderland is truly a new master piece I enjoyed enormously. Sadly...................................

As my friends like to say :" You seem to be living in the world of a series of unfortunate events." Somehow or other I always encounter such things. After hearing my story my friend even laughed that it sounds like something from a funny comic book. -_-.............

So what happened? On the quest to watch the "Alice" movie, ( some friends were there and they would know what I mean). It seems like there are just so many obstacles on the way to prevent me from watching "Alice". So far I can remember there are 5:

    1. First time wanted to watch: I watched another movie instead, the " How to train your own dragon." Because everyone wanted to watch the Dragon instead of "Alice".

    2. 2nd time tried to watch again while we are right outside the cinema, some emergency happened and I need to settle it............

    3. 3rd attempt, been too busy and finally got time and chance to watch : Wrong timing all the time. As the movie been on for a while, the timing are all not so good anymore. That day was too late 11.15pm...and seriously I would like to get home before that.

    4. By after a few weeks when I finally free to watch there is no one to watch with me. Everyone have watched it or not interested. Poor me.........I thought : " fine...maybe I will never be able to watch in cinema but maybe from online or dvd."

    5. Friday: Happy Day! Finally got the right time, right people, right place to watch, even the right seats in cinema to watch "Alice". I was so excited!! 2 unbelievable things happened:

I just fall ASLEEP half way through the movie!! Though friend keep trying to keep me awake but I think I still sleep for 1/5 of the show. I do not know how could this happened. And the movie was from 6.45pm-8pm like that........

2nd thing: Half way through the movie the film stuck twice and we waited for 15mins or so for it to come back again. -_-.............

So you see, even whne I finally get to watch it, so many things happened. It is as there is something with me and the movie. It is like Jinx or what.

I love the teaparty Alice and mad Hatter enjoyed. they are just totally mad and fun~

All the characters in the movie is even better and more amazing than the original story. The red Queen is Mad and cruel. The White Queen is beautiful, mythical and " Siao siao " --> as Hokkien says. Ok..got to go to bed, it is really late............

    ZzzZZZZZzzzz yawn..sleppy.

    Sherlock Holmes the Movie 2009

Sherlock Holmes--> One of my favourite Fictional Character but he is so real that I always thought of him as a historical figure instead. His art of observation is so wonderful. It is just how the practice of medicine is applied. The power of observation can lead you to a great deal of clues about the patient's conditions.

I am really glad that out of a sudden there is this Sherlock Holmes movie coming up in DEc. ^^~~ I am so excited about it. Can't wait to watch it!!!

The older version of Sherlock Holmes series of which I find the characters that looks most similar to the original description and drawings. I even once saw that Sherlock Holmes was kind of fat in some tv series....that's a night mare.

221b Baker Street. Lots of people went to UK have a visit there too. Hope I can have a look at it one day.

    Who is Sherlock Holmes?
Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based "consulting detective", Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess and is renowned for his skilful use of astute observation, deductive reasoning and forensic skills to solve difficult cases.
His personal belongings. The pipe, the clock, lighter, measuring tape, magnifying glass etc...

Btw I am also a huge huge fan of Conan and Kindachi ^^~~~

Signs that say you are getting OLD>

What if one day you woke up, took a shower, came out of bath and look in the mirror. All of a sudden you noticed something is different and you start to have a closer inspection.

Something seen to be hanging at your elbow. Pull it and hold.

OMG. It stayed wrinkled up and never bounced back as it always used to.

Put your hand down your thigh and feel. OMG... It is saggy and soft.

Lift up your arm and shake. That slender, solid, lean muscular arm is flabby. Shake it and it stay shaking.

Felt your back and you are like wearing a loose bag of skin over your bones.

Your facial expression looks sad. And pull a bit at your fore head. You look the same again. Oh...facial skin is loose and coming down.

The skin at your hand appear to be the same as your elbow. Lost all turgidity and elasticity.

    Stomach??? No need to say....

When one morning you wake and find all these: Say hello and welcome to cougar town to you!

From urban dictionary cougar means some one above 35 or 40.

I bet it is definitely a nightmare to suddenly realize you are 40 and sagging. No more unhealthy lifestyle now to stay young and good -looking. Sleep early.

Another Vampire show since that "Twilight " been such a success. I am not counting too much on the story line but I am sure I am going to see a lot of hotties around. Since it is also adapted from some books, pray it is good. This drama just started not long ago, premiered on 10.9.09.

Though I am a girl but I prefer to stare at beautiful girls then handsome guys. I feel girls have such a soft form and when they sit there still, they look like an art piece. Beautiful.

Girls are so much more fascinating isn't it? Elusive creatures we all are. OMG...I am in love with her smiles. So wonderfully everything. I seldom see such features in Chinese girls. I think is the bone structures. I love the characters voices. Why are they so sweet or so manly and not too over? Ok...now i know why girls all go crazy about this sort of shows.

Half way through the show and now I know why is it call The Vampire Diaries. Because the girl and the vampires are really really writing in a diary. Do ppl write in a diary now adays? More like writing blogs, isn't it? And it is so much easier to cut and patch pieces now. ^^~ I wonder to secondary school kids keep diaries nowadays.

OMG... that Stefan's voice is so sexy. Sounds like my bf from long time ago. Which could also mean just a trick of memory. Anyway, the way he said he did not read her journal when he returns it to her is so.....touching. He wouldn't want others to read his journal too. And he think memories are so important. If u don't write it down u may forget it. Yeah...right for a few century old vampire.

When Stefan found out about the accident of Elena's parents, he said:" You will not be sad forever, Elena." Wow... who will say that now a days?

    Blood: The Last Vampire

Went to watch "Blood: The Last Vampire" the other day with my long time childhood friend, Ah L . We first met when were around 7 years old. Wow...how time past us by.
Back to the movie: it was based on Japanese anime film. But strange enough I never see this around. Maybe it was really popular in Japan or other parts of the world.

Blood: The Last Vampire is an anime film produced by Production I.G and Aniplex and directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo. The film premiered in theaters in Japan on November 18, 2000.

The story is set in the American Yokota Air Base located in post-WWII Japan, a few months before the beginning of the Vietnam War. Its main protagonist is a girl named Saya, who hunts hematophagous bat-like creatures called chiropterans for a secret organization known as the Red Shield.

This is the Movie version acted by the pretty Korean actress. If you recall the popular " MY Sassy Girl" that's her. That sweet, violent, pretty, brutal, yet innocent sassy girl. I really like her character's image here. Much more pretty and stunning then the anime version.
From the muscular cuffs observed as she run around, I guessed she must have done quite a lot of work out for this movie.

I am not sure about how people judge films but as for me I think it is quite enjoyable.
    Rank: 4/5
    Storyline: 1/5
Though story line sucks at the end by the action, graphic and the opening was good. Other than the last 1/4 of the movie is very hard to understand, the rest was good.

The atmosphere, the setting was nice but the computerized monsters were a bit....weird.....and the splattered blood. Why it is like animed ? I dunno how to explain. It just look weird. Sometimes it is not even red in colour.

Towards the second half of the movie I was kind of confused about that lady with long black hair and dressed in white kimono. But somehow I sort of guessed that she must be Saya 's mum. Typical anime story-line anyway. Still it is worth watching. ^^~~~

I love her sad sad eyes. So beautiful and telling you her life-long sorrows.
Plot Summary: On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling." Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base's general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection...

For movie preferences it really depend on different people. Sometimes my friends claimed that xxx movie is a must watch. But quite a lot of times I am totally disappointed. I remember there was this Cartoon about some penguin finding its mate across atlantic. People keep saying how fantastic it was and how meaningful, touching....To me: a bunch of fat penguin in black and white singing romantic songs to each other. Music is great but....still.....penguin.-_-............ Total let down.

Also that "Scary Movie", seriously other than 1 of them the rest is a total waste of time to watch. Btw I love " In the Mood for Love" by Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. I watched it a few times actually. OK....guessed most people find it Boring but not me. I simply love it. IT is a very beautiful, romantic, melancholic.

Love the song: In the Mood for love too.

    Love this part:
The setting of the final narration of the story is at Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Chow is seen visiting the Angkor Wat and whispers several years worth of secrets into a hole in a wall, before plugging the hole with mud - a method that he mentions by which a secret can be kept whilst dining with his old friend during his stay in Singapore.

The tension and forbidden feeling between them is so intense. Wihtout saying anything, just a glance, a hand that shakened slightly and the end butt of a cigeratte tells the whole story. I am really impressed with how the director manage to create such a feeling and mood. You simply see the loneliness in their eyes, sadness and anger over their adulterous spouses. Somewhere around the middle of the movie, the mood changed. As days past by and that get closer to each other, something between them grew. There is a sort of hide and seek between them. He wanted to admit he love her but she withdraw and moved away. So he felt defected and embarassed. Another she gather up enough courage to find him, he is trying hard to up hold his principle for not following the foot step of his wife. Nevertheless the is taste of sadness at these two people who so desperately in love with each other but were unable to do so. They do not dare to cross the boundaries in a conservative society though their spouses did.

Oh well... it is a really romantic movie about love. In the mood for love.

    Movie: Marley an Me

I am a dog and cat person. I grew up with both since a kid so I know both their habits and nature. In my opinion, cat is in, dog is out in general. Meaning cats stay in door while dogs stay out door ( with their little dog house of course not leave out in the sun!).

Finally get to watch this movie: Marley and Me. I have so many dogs and cats in my life maybe my attention and love was spread throughout. Each and every single dog and cat is special and unique in their own wolf and meow way. Though I love every single one of my pets but I am still a bias human at heart. I can not say I love everyone equally. I have my favourite.

Let us talk about Marley: Cute doggy and yes I am familiar with Labrador. Came in 2 colours if I am not wrong ( that's the usual I observed). Light brown and black doggies of droopy ears and with cute beady eyes.

This movie is more about life than about the dog. It reminds me a lot about my own life and people around me.

These very common questions went through my head as I watched the movie:
The very core questions we ask ourselves everyday or soon to be for me in a few years time.

Where to work? Do I take this job? When are we having kids? I am 40 now....should I up root myself and move my family + a dog to another state? I have a crazy dog at home and I am pregnant!!! Work and hire help for my baby? Work and take care baby at home? Quit job be a full time mum??? Unexpected babies pop into my life and a mad dog plus moody husband.....I am going crazy!!!!

I totally understand how that wife feels. She had a great job, she want kids too. She struggled: job or home? She had a principle so she follow it. She is determined to take care of her own kids not hiring help. That maybe a good point to be able to spend time with your kids and see them grow up. take picture for their 1st step, 1st everything.

The husband love kids but not sure is he ready to be a dad. Finally kids are here....he is lost. His work is not up to what he expected, his wife is always getting angry at him like a mad woman. He wanted to run away or be ready to be killed by her. Marley the cute doggy add a little spice to their life. Release tension at times. Throughout life there is only a pet : like a dog and cat which as long as you give them your heart they will give theirs. Whole-heartedly not asking anything in return. Maybe biscuits and water and a hug in return at most. hahaha~

What time movie reminds me most is THUNDER.

Thunder scared my doggy Yuki and my poor meow meow. See she is hugging me so tightly. Poor little baby she is so scared. She will panic whenever there is thunder. Oh...hug hug.

Meowmeow enjoying a big hug from me. She is putting on weight so am I.

p/s: Ignore my super dark circles. It is the lighting not my eyes !!! It is raining now.
Peopel love your pets and give them a hug. I consider my pets my family .

    Movie: Pained Skin

    "Pained skin."
A very beautiful, poetic ancient love story between human and ghost.

Tell me, which man won't fall for a beautiful, soft spoken, sweet woman?

Ha. I am always kind of slow when come to watching movies. I like this movie very much. The director shot it in a way just like beautiful oil painting. Very beautiful, soothing. The original story of " Pained Skin" in the story book was quite typical. In my opinion, this movie version is much better.

    Typical story goes:

One man met a lonely beautiful girl on the road. He help her in some ways and soon he was told by some passing by priest/monk/ ghost hunter/fortune teller that he has been in contact with evil. Not only that that evil spirit will harm him. Of course as a typical man he will never believe what was told. Such a innocent, fragile, pretty girl who can't even kill an ant. How can she harm him?
Well, well, well. Dear typical guy. You will never know. She may even slice you open and take your heart right out just like that. ^^~

    One of the Best Scene:

Girl: Will you give me your heart?
Guy: Yes. I will give you all my heart.
Girl smiling sweetly and said;" Really? Thanks."
    Guy:" Eh....Oh...You...You..."
She is holding his blood dripping heart in her pretty while hand.

So...Guys beware. Don't anyhow give away your heart just like that. Sometimes you might really literally lose it. LOL~

Anyway usually the guy will 'accidentally' see the monster revealed themselves. In this case a demon taking off her human skin and started painting on it. Who ever sees the truth nature of demon will never get to see another day. Thus...exit that unlucky guy? No. He got a faithful, loving, brave wife. She will do anything for him. Move the mountain, dry up the river and even swallow the sputum of some insane guy. To bring her husband back to life. In the end, the demon will be killed and everything will be peaceful again.

This movie has almost the same story line too. But it is much more interesting, other than loving couple, there is a kong fu super good ex-lover, pretty demon plus her lizard admirer. Everyone was so deeply in love with each other.

I especially like the part where they look and said nothing. The actors can really speak with their dazzling eyes. It is so full of emotion, tension, question and love in those deep pools of their soul. When Pei Rong ( the wife) told her husband that she was the demon that killed all those people in town, he totally don't believe her. ( even when she looks just like a demon herself with all those white hair and red tears.) He said: "No matter what you are, human or demon. I still love you. You are my wife. " This is like way too OMG kind of love declaration.
I would end my life right and there if I am just like that wife in the situation. No matter who are what you have done. Your man still love you. Isn't that enough ? It is just too romantic. I feel for that 1000 year old demon foxy too. Though she is so evil but she loved that guy too much.
    Love...
Sigh...Will I ever find and have a love just like that? Just like in Emily Dickinson poem? If God may, I wish to love you even after death.

Tiffany sniffing a bit as she always indulge herself in beautiful love story.

p/s: Pardon me for all those grammar mistakes. I will try to improve. Ashamed to say I actually scored quite ok on IELTS: 8/9 ...but still. ... Hahaha. I will try hard to live up to that as I was told off by my dear friend. Recently I was being too impatient in typing and end up having so many typing error and grammar mistakes.

    Pan's Labyrinth.

    Pan’s Labyrinth.

My good friend gave this video to me tonight. I have seen the promo of this movie, but I never really got to watch it. Blood & violence VS Beauty & enchantment. It is a great movie in a slow fairy tale mix with war movie way. Adult reality with child innocence. This movie is really mind blowing. Fantastic graphic with very creative character casting. Don’t expect much action impact or super funny stuff. The war scene is similar to those civil war movies. But the fairy tale part is great. Pan/ faun, little fairies, monster with eyes on the palms. And all of them eat MEAT!

The golden key, the ugly toad, the 3 doors, the mythic statues- the essence of fairy tales. Little girl Ofelia is a princess from the underworld that got lost in our human world. She lives among us, fall sick and die as mortal. Her vivid imagination and belief in fairy tales reminds me of myself. I was just like her. A little girl wearing dresses with bows in my hair and pretty shiny dolly shoes. I always play by myself, lost in my own imagination. A private world all of my own.

    Talking about fairy tales…..

I have read the original works of ‘Grimm’s Fairy Tales’ before. A lot of it actually is not really suitable for children. It seems like the western society has always been very open about sex since 16-17th century. Or maybe earlier, I am not too sure. The modern day Grimm’s we read are maybe 15th version or more. I don’t quite remember. The first few original versions are really nasty. For example, ‘Snow White’, originally the Queen (snow white’s mum) did not die. There is NO step mother. Basically the King is …a bit…pervert. He like young girls. When the Queen becomes a more mature woman he lost interest in her. Then as years go by when Snow white is 14 or so, he starts to notice her. Then use your naughty dirty sense and think. Yes, the father tricks the daughter to bed and had a great time. The Queen is a dilemma. The King always brings snow white to functions and leaves her all alone. She is jealous of snow white and feels the need to protect her daughter. She asks the guard to take snow white to a safe place. But snow white was young and think queen just jealous of her and she won’t listen. (yes, snow white is kind of ignorant, slutty and kind of bitchy in the original work.)

Anyway, the story reads more like porn then fairy tale. Everyone sleep with everyone. It also includes the prince that kisses snow white and makes her spit out her apple. The Prince is a sicko too.

He like dead bodies. If the girl is not dead he has no ‘feel’. Sick right??? When I was a kid I have always been wondering why the prince kiss snow white when she is dead and in a glass coffin. Very weird and now I finally got the answer. ( The Disney changed the scene a bit. ) The prince has always come by in the end out of no wherekiss snow white, apple out , live happily ever after. Ok, back to the original versions, the prince brought snow white back to his kingdom and have fun with her then somehow apple came out. She is alive again. The prince lost interest in snow white. He only like dead girls. He got a whole room full of such girls. Anyway, they still got married in the end. Snow white attracted the King to ensure she has a great pampered life. During their wedding she even invite her mum too. Snow white told the Prince ‘s Father that her mum was very cruel to her. And wish he can help her take revenge. So

Snow white made her mum wear a pair of red hot iron shoes. The Queen dance her ‘dance of death’ till she drop. In the original story, Snow white is this slutty, cruel, cold hearted sexy pretty girl. Very weird. So different from the familiar fairy tales we read since young. But actually you can find some holes here and there, or some mismatched bits in the story. It was due to multiple editing through all these centuries. If they cut some where out it will appear weird. Anyway, next time got chance I will tell you all more about original fairy tales’ which shows the true human cruelty and nature. It is a sort of reflection for everyone.

Tiffany loving the song: ‘ happy ending’.
